I was wondering if vortech (or any other company) have E46 BMW M3 Supercharger or turbocharger. If you guys have any information regarding this, please respond, and try to give out the stats, before and after, etc.

Personally, I'd love to see a supercharger for the new M3, but I am less than hopeful that it will happen. With an 11.5:1 compression ratio, likely any boost would blow the bottom end off your engine. Most supercharged/turbocharged run at least less than 9.5:1 compression ratio at the most. Making the M3 engine have that kind of change would require serious porting/heads/pistons ect...

Regardless of the compression ratio, I fear that the M3 engine is so high strung already, so much on the edge, that anything extra would have serious side effects. That's one of the things I don't particularly like about the M3, everything is already so efficient that there's really nothing you can do to the engine.

On the bright side, I'm still hopeful that some simple solution will be found to run at least low levels of boost through the engine. Lingenfelter now has a supercharger that can run 5.5 psi of boost even for the Z06, which has a 10.5:1 compression ratio. Perhaps, though, some tuner out there (maybe Evosport, Hamann Motorsport, Turner Motorsport, or ideally Dinan). Dinan has, in the past, made pretty decent superchargers for BMWs, maybe that can do it again!

I have checked with several companies and ESS or European Supercharger Systems is making one. They are using a 2002 with SMG2 to develop it. I recieved very quick and helpful e-mail responses from them. Looks like the system will be 4.5 # with an intercooler. Other companies I checked with were not looking at making a system for the M3.

I was searching the web and found this:
http://www.europeanracing.com/e46_323_supercharger.htm

I know it's not for the M3, but it is the only supercharger I've ever found for an E46 3-series.

I went to the site you referred too, and they it says they don't have one now but that it's "Under Development"
http://www.esstuning.com/bmwvtlist.htm

That's the site, look at BMW 3 Series (E46) and scroll down to the bottom of that section (around a 1/2 of the whole page). It suggests that they expect (or hope, as the case may be) that the supercharger will increase HP to 415 (probably at the flywheel), which is a pretty big gain. 4.5 PSI will ensure that we don't blow the bottom end off our engines. Sounds like a plan to me

I'm definitely thinking about getting one after ESS is through with development, it will let me really fly on the autobahn!

Hell, the motor blows up in NA form, you think 4.5 psi won't detonate the thing.
